San Mateo County CCW Training

Gun Kraft provides CCW training for students applying through San Mateo County.

When Can You Train

Do not take your CCW training until you've been approved. They will reject any training completed before approval. Our classes meet the training requirements of San Mateo SO.

Allowed Pistols and Modifications

You may list up to three firearms on your permit. Any legal firearm modifications are allowed. Optics, magazine disconnect removal, and lights are okay—as long as they're legal.

Your firearms must be chambered in one of the following calibers:

  • .38 Special
  • .380 Auto
  • 9mm
  • 10mm
  • .40 S&W
  • .45 ACP
  • .357 Sig
  • .357 Magnum
  • .44 Magnum
  • .44 Special

No Holster Required

You do not need to bring your own holster. We’ll teach you proper holster draw technique using our equipment. If you've never drawn from a holster before, please do not try to self-teach before class. Bad habits form quickly, and it takes far more reps to unlearn them than to do it right from the start. Drawing from a holster isn’t complicated—but form matters.

Range Qualification

  • You must qualify with each firearm you list on your CCW
  • Passing score is 80% (29 of 36 rounds) inside an IDPA size silhouette
  • There is no time limit
  • Private coaching is available if you have difficulty meeting the requirements
